the only way I could get the girls to nap was to take them on car rides...

Mt Rushmore
We took a bus trip from the camp ground to Mt Rushmore on the night Friday July 24. It was a fun ride up but very nerve wracking since the twins werent buckled in. My mom and dad road up in a truck and I opted to switch with my mom and take the twins home that way. In hindsight I probably should have stayed back at the campground since the show was a little to "old" for my kids. They did enjoy hanging out with all the other kids though. It was just a really long night! It was cool though to see Mt Rushmore all lit up! .JPG)

Dollar Tree
The girls absolutely love the Dollar Tree . We saw Auntie Theresa for a quick visit today and the girls were loving her jewelry! They played with her rings and were very sad that they had to give them back. So after a picnic at Cornwall park we went to the Dollar Store. I let them pick out 2 things...As you can see they all picked out crowns and ear rings. The twins also picked out a package out a package of bracelets and rings while Sam got yet another doll! I did manage to spend $27 there...

tunnels on 16A
My Dad doesnt read signs very well or listen to my mother who tried to point out the sign! We were trying to make it to Custer State Park in South Dakota. Looking at the map this Highway 16A looked like the quickest route. Boy were we wrong. Mom noticed the sign but Dad ignored her. He thought it said 12' 9" There were 3 of these tunnels and boy were they nerve wracking to say the least. The road was pretty narrow too. We didnt notice when we were going through them that you can see Mt. Rushmore from them too. It was a very eventful ride and took a lot longer then the long route would have! Very pretty though!
Buffallo foot print (wish I would have had Sams next to it-this was huge)

Deadwood, SD
We are spending the night at a campground called 'fish n fry'. They have a pond where you can catch a trout and they'll cook it up for you! Of course we arent fisherman here so we just watched and fed the fish Sams favorite thing was picking the wild flowers. They did some swimming but the pool was a little crowded for their taste. We played at the playground (where the wildflowers were) and ate dinner at the cool little shack. The place has no phone service but can get on the internet for a small charge!

We drove through the town but didnt get a chance to stop and stroll. I would have liked to have seen the gravesite of Wild Bill Hickok and Calaminty Jane. Jon and I were into the Deadwood series on HBO for a couple of seasons too. It seemed like a cool old town!

big tire
This reminds me of my childhood! Courtney didnt want to get in the tire. She only wanted to climb to the top on the outside but it was too hot so she wasnt up there long enough for a good shot. Last night they played on it for a long time and got so black that they had to take a shower! Good times!!
