The Luke Air Force base is maybe 3 miles away from where we live. Today was "Thunder in the Desert" and you would have thought they would have been prepared for the onslaught of people to come and watch. We drove up there thinking it wouldnt be that hard to park. After being in line with 100's of other cars we decided to pull over and park and walk to the gate. As we were walking up we saw at least 500 or more people standing in line. A family was walking away and we asked what the deal was and they said they had been there since 9:30 (it was 11:15) standing in line to get on base and they werent even close to getting in so they gave up. We turned around and went and got subway sandwiches and went to a field across from the base to watch the show. The only bad thing was no bathroom so once Sam said she really had to go we packed up and headed home. Next year we we'll be more prepared to stay the afternoon. it was pretty cool what part of we saw...just bummed we missed the thunderbirds! I could have looked out front door but was to lazy.
update: we saw the thunderbirds--they flew right over the house...soo cool!
