long day

It was a long long day. Once Jon was done with work and had been around the kids for about an hour he said "I hate to say this but I cant wait for 8 oclock" Sam was so tired she ended up falling asleep on the couch at 7:30. Courtney went down around 8 and by the sounds of I think Syd is still upstairs bugging her daddy but she'll be going down pretty soon herself...same with me! Pray that they all sleep well tonight and tomorrow is a better day.

update from the Dr. Bly

She finally got the report, she said it was like pulling teeth from them, took them forever! Well Courtney is in the beginning stages of pnuemonia so we are keeping her on the antibiotic treatment for 10 days. She said that Courtney will more then likely have a fever flucuation for the next 48 hours and to keep her hydrated. This is so awful and Sam is so sad that she cant go to school or ballet. She had another accident when she woke up too. So its going to be a long day at the Howe household!

2:30 am

All hell broke loose. Sam had a bout of diarreaha, Sydney was crying in hysterics because she couldnt find her bice and poor Courtney had a fever of 103.8. Jon dealt with Sam while I looked for Syds bice. After she got all calmed down I thought I better check on Courtney and thats when I found her just lying there with her eyes open, heavily breathing and hot as hell. I paniced inside. I gave her a dose of ibuprofin and laid with her for a bit. She did drink some pedialite and I checked her diaper and she had peed. I had Jon lay with her to see if maybe we should take her to the ER. He didnt think so I brought her into our bed so I could watch her the rest of the night. After the medicine started working she was playing a bit but by now its like 3:30 and it was time to sleep. Jon ended up going in and sleeping on Courtneys bed while I slept with her. Sam had another bout of diarreaha too. So she's not going to school today, she is still sleeping and is not going to like it when I tell her that. Sydney slept in today (7:45) which is really good since we all didnt get very much sleep. Courtneys fever was only 99.3 when she woke but all she wants to be is snuggled. Hopefully we will here from the doctor pretty soon to see if this really is pneumonia. Oh yeah and to top it all off Barley peed by the laundry room this morning which I walked right on through! We are getting a doggy door put in on Friday because this is happening more and more...poor ol dog!

poor Courtney

The past 48 hours have been horrible for Courtney. She isnt feeling well at all so I took her to the docs again today. Her fever had spiked, the highest so far was 103.5. The doctor is afraid she might have pneumonia so we had to go get chest x rays. We arent finding out tonight if thats it because the lab didnt send the report before 6:30pm when the doctor finally had to go home. The doctor decided to start her on antibiotics tonight instead of waiting for the report. All Courtney wants to do is snuggle and sleep. We have to try and keep her hydrated or we could end up in the ER if she isnt drinking and peeing. It's so sad especially with her little splint on. Poor little baby girl!

Sydney!

She woke up at 5:45 am this morning and didnt want to go back to sleep even though it was still dark out! I hate mornings like that!! I turned on the tv and she crawled over me while we watch PBS Sprout. She wasnt going to let me go back to sleep. Courtney woke up around 7:15 with Sam finally making it down stairs around 8:30! Sydney sure is turning into a girlie girl. I had picked out a pair of shorts and tee for her to wear today and she didnt want anything to do with it she kept pointing to this dress hanging in her closet. Even though she may be a stinker sometimes she sure is a cutie!

the orthopedic surgeon

Today Courtney finally got in to see the orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kit McCalla. After talking with him we should have seen him much sooner. Its one of those things where we all kind of dropped the ball here. First we should have noticed alot sooner that something was wrong but when we did it was over the weekend and if we would have taken her to the ER more then likely the doctor on duty would have just splint her up and told us to go to the pediatricians on Monday which is what we did. The pediatrician sent us off to the Xray place which in turn sent a report stating "...the left forearm demonstate nondisplaced fracture of the mid to distal shaft of the radius. There is a "plastic" deformity ofthe ulna as well suggesting microfracture..." The later has starting the healing process so now its going to be about 6-8 weeks in a splint and about a year of rehabitaltion to get it to the right curvature. Dr. McCalla wishes he would have seen her on Monday as soon as we had the film but his office is pretty busy and my pediatrician didnt make it STAT so today was the first real appointment available. I feel awful about the whole thing but there isnt much we can do about it now. She didnt get a cast on because the doctor doesnt like to cast little ones because they end up pulling the off and this way if she does get it off we can put it back on ourselves. The splint was molded to her arm so its pretty tough all around with a little wiggle room so we can take it off to wash her arm. Poor little girl!

waiting

Courtney has to wait until tomorrow to see the orthopedic to get her cast on. She just has to keep the splint on and be really careful. She loves to climb so its been a pain trying to keep her down!

night swim classes

this month Sam has been taking her swim classes at night. (6:10-40) The sun goes down really early here so by the time she's done it's dark. The olympic pool is all lit up and there is a lot of people and swim groups in there. The play pool closes at 7 so I usually let her play after class.

it broke

Last Wednesday night we were playing horsey. I was the horsey it was gettign a little boring so I ended up playing bunking bronco and Courtney fell off. She cried for a sec but jumped back on. Didnt think much of it really. The next day though she had a slight fever and just wanted to snuggle with Namy. We thought she jsut getting a cold, her nose is always runny here and shes been getting all her teeth in, we didnt think much of it, gave her some tylonel a couple times. The highest it got was 100.8. On Saturday morning Jon noticed she wasnt really using her left arm and wanted to watch it. After he said that it was really noticable that she wasnt using it at all. We thought it was her shoulder but she could move it and didnt scream so we didnt rush to the ER over the weekend. I wanted to but then I figured I was being overprotective and we could just wait until Monday to go the pediatricians office. I felt like the worst parent ever when she told me her arm is probably broken. She put both arms together and you could totally see how bow shaped her arm was, something was wrong. She put her arm in a little splint and sent us off to the Xray place. After they took the pictures I asked if it was broken and they wouldnt tell me, they doctor had to but they gave me copies of the xrays so when I got in the car I looked. It doesnt take a degree to see that was broken. I felt horrible. The doctor called and is setting it all up to get a cast on sometime tomorrow.

more poop

Last night Courtney wanted to get out of the tub so I left Sam and Syd in there while I got Court in her pjs. I came back and there was a poop next to the toilet and Sam was telling Syd that she was suppose to poop in the potty!

in the tub

Courtney peed in the potty today but she also pooped in the tub! (Jon was on bath 'dudy' tonight)

more swimming

We sure are enjoying our pool!

ballet show

This morning Samantha had her first ballet show. I wouldnt call it a recital but it sure was cute!
The class she is in is for 2 and 3 year olds so there isnt to much structure but I think she is enjoying it!

in the potty

we havent even tried to start potty training but I think I will now. This afternoon I was putting on the girls swim suits. Sydney got I'll suited up first then I got Courtney undressed and she ran away from me. She ran straight to the bathroom, climbed up on the potty and went pee! I didnt even prompted her or anything she jsut did it all on her own!! yay!!

video

We found the underwater cover for our camera! Jon took some great shots but I was a dummy and ended up deleting the pictures but I didnt mess up the video shots!

carrot cake

The other day we went to Costco and we bought a bag o carrots. Namy and Sam decided to make a yummy carrot cake. They have been quite a bit of baking this week Namy has made two pies, cherry and apple and they both made chocolate chips cookies. We are eating way to many sweets!!

WATER

I have said in the past how much the twins LOVE water. Especially water coming from the tap. Yesterday afternoon the girls were missing. It was scary too since my dad had gone out to the front of the house. We couldnt find them anywere. Sam was sitting in loft having watching a lttle bit of tv and she said the girls werent upstairs. We looked everywhere. My dad went upstairs, Jon went out back and I went out front. They werent out front or outback so we ran upstairs to help dad and sure enough they were there. It was probably 5-7 minutes before they were found. I forgot to shut the door to our bedroom AND the gate to the bathroom in there. It was the biggest mess I have ever seen. Water everywhere. By the time I got up there my dad had gotten them out of the sink and they were standing in the tub with the biggest smiles on there wet bodies. I have never seen so much water. They were on Jons side of the bathroom so his sink, drawers and cupboards were under an inch of water. The water was all over the bathroom floor from one side to the other. Jon decided he better go look at the ceiling in the dining room since our bathroom is above that and sure enough the water was dripping through the vent and there were a couple wet spots on the ceiling, one where the sink is located and the other by the side of where the bathtub is. There was a lot of water. Thankfully we live in the desert and its all dried out this morning. I was in such in shock that I didnt get any pictures of this mayhem.

words

Sometimes I wonder where kids pick up words. The word stupid is never said in this house, at least I dont remember ever saying it. Maybe I've said it saying something is stupid but I would have never called a person stupid...but today Sam called me stupid. It was close to dinner and I was trying to cook it. Sam was looking in the fridge saying she was hungry. I told her dinner is almost ready and she says "you are so stupid" and then she started running to the time out corner before I even told her she was in trouble. She smart but yet not so smart...

dancing queens

the artist

While the twins napped this afternoon I got the paints out for Sam. She is becoming quite an artist! She painted a few pictures then she started getting to messy and ended up painting on her shirt and hands so she had an early bath. I havent got the patience to get the paints out with all the kids with only one easel I know it would become a big paint war...
Syd and Courtney ended up waking up after about an hour of napping, I got Court back down but Syd didnt want anything to do with it so she is snuggling on the couch watching "yo Gabba Gabba" with Namy.

lazy

The past few days I have been pretty lazy about taking pictures. Which as you can see makes my blogging null and void. These are the only ones I have taken. Namy bought a delicous cocoanut cream pie that. Sydney and Courtney thought loved it. Courtney even licked her plate

but Sam wasnt a big fan (she takes after her dad who doesnt like cream pies) but Namy made them an apple pie so they are spoiled. As you can can see she loves fudgsicles!

We havent really been doing much. The weather is finally cooling down so we can spend more time outside. We are in the midst of getting bids in for redoing our back yard. It's amazing how much difference there is in prices of different landscapers but more then likely we will be just getting all the dang rocks and weeds up for now so we can get the play structure and swing up for the kids. Papa flew in yesterday to help with all that. There is a long list of things we need to get done while the grandparents are here either to help with the projects or keep the kids entertained!

Sydney

Sometimes the camera messes up and makes a cool looking shot.

cheers

Sammy Kay and Alyssa enjoying their Virgin Pina Coladas

pile o princesses

Belle and Aurora

Namy flew in last night to help me out since Jons in Vegas all week for a trade show. She wanted to get the little ones each a princess dress that fit them since they keep wearing Sams and tripping over the gowns. So we headed over to teh Princess store. Sam got to pick out new shoes and a head band. The girls sure do love that store! I think the little girls will be dressing up like princesses this halloween! Sam is going to be the 'good' witch from the 'Wizard of Oz' and Jessica wants to be the bad one!

swimming is always FUN

This afternoon after our trip to the Princess Store Namy, Sam and Alyssa went swimming while Sydney, Courtney and I took a nap. Sydney woke up after about 20 minutes with a poopy diaper and she wouldnt go back to sleep so into the pool she went. I didnt get a shot of my mom in her fancy new bathing suit.

Ballet class

Sam had her first ballet class yesterday. After my mix up last week I made sure we were there on time. The sheet said 4:15-5 but the class started at 4! The teacher went until 5 though. I wasnt the only late person so next week it is at 4:15. We were all a bit confused. This class is for 2 and 3 year olds so it really isnt 'ballet' except that they are all are so dressed up so dang cute. Sam definetly was the oldest one in there and she looked like she was having fun but when it was over she was bummed she said because they didnt do any twirls like ballerinas are suppose to do.

Sam: "I work at the butt factory"
Mom: "do you make bums there"
Sam : "no Mom, I make poop!"
oh kids and there potty humor!

swimming @ the YMCA

Sam is taking more swim lessons. I really want her to be super confident in the water since we have a pool and all. Her classes this month are MW from 6:10 - 6:40pm. At first I didnt know if we were going to like it right after dinner but we love it. Sam thinks its neat to swim when it starts getting dark out.

Here's a video of her learning how to swim to the bottom of the pool. I think I am going to go buy some fun sinker toys for our pool.
After class today we swam in the play area. It's open until 7 so it's a quick little swim. Alyssa is down for a visit so it worked out great to take the twins in too. They never get to play in the water at home without looking like the michelin man with all there floaty apperatice they have on, I thought they'd enjoy it too which they did. Sam was a little bummed that I didnt play with her like I usually do but its tough work watching three kids in the pool even with two adults and a lifeguard.

Jon didnt go with us tonight because his Vikings were playing monday night football...they lost so he should have come!
